  • “COUNTY ROADS”

Elvie: The title track to my EP, “County Roads” is a coming of age track. It's inspired by those monumental moments in our youth and movies like American Graffiti and Dazed and Confused where we learn about love just as fast as you drive.

  • “KEEP ON STRUMMIN’”

Elvie: “Keep on Strummin’” is an idea that was given to me by my older brother, Clinton. I was talking to him on the phone one day and as we were getting off, he said “well, man, keep on strummin’” and I thought “Dang! There's a title to a song right there.” So we wrote this song about my journey to Nashville and all the ups and downs and just about getting back up when you get knocked down.

  • “SUNDAYS IN THE SOUTH”

Elvie: “Sundays in the South” is a song that I wrote about growing up in rural Kentucky and how those Sundays were spent. This song is completely raw and honest from going to the gas station to pick up Yoo-Hoos, to putting our ears to the door and making sure people weren't praying so we could walk in without interrupting them… and a little bit about maybe sneaking dad’s beers out of his cooler and going down to the creek and trying them out.

  • “MY BOY”

Elvie: “My Boy”is a song about my son and our relationship. It was inspired by a social media post that said “I don't have a stepson I have a son that was born before I met him” and man, that really resonated with me. I wrote it with three friends on the back porch of the first house I stayed at when I started coming to Nashville. It's about love, it’s about family and it's about how sometimes blood is thicker than water but love's thicker than blood.

  • “SUNDRESS”

Elvie: “Sundress” is a song that is inspired by that first love feeling… and the freedom that you feel when you get that first set of keys and you get to go out and explore that love... and how it hurts to watch it go but how you can look back on it and smile later on in life.

  • “MY MISSISSIPPI”

Elvie: Sometimes love is like a river. You can't stop it when it's running out and headed South. That's what “My Mississippi” is about. It’s one of my favorite songs on this entire project and tells a story of a man talking to the Mississippi River, just going out there trying to clear his head and catch fish but just like that girl that got away, the fish seem to do it too.
