  "SOMEBODY ELSE'S WHISKEY"

  "Somebody Else's Whiskey" has definitely grown into a fan favorite. I've played it at a couple of different rounds where people just have this great reaction because it's funny. It tells a really great story about a guy who just felt like he dodged a bullet in a really bad relationship and it worked out because she found somebody else as well and so the joke is it now he just has a little more whiskey for himself. She's drinking somebody else's whiskey on somebody else's tab so his life is all the better for it.

  “We Got Em” is the first song that I wrote when I first started trying to incorporate New Mexico imagery into my music. Songs from the Southwest whether it's Las Cruces, Columbus, Deming, that whole southern region that I grew up in is what this song is about. It’s country, it’s fun, it’s family oriented, and so if you’re looking for a good time, we got em.

It’s so musical, it’s so heart wrenching, when you think about it. It’s a cautionary tale at the end of the day to save yourself from a broken heart, never say hello to the prettiest girl at the bar.

  “Spring Break” is a summer jam. It’s one of those songs that I feel like you could just turn up on a boat. It really has that imagery of the oceanside kinda atmosphere. Just hanging out on the pier or the boardwalk, whatever it is. It’s that song that really incorporates that feeling that you get during those spring flings and what it’s like when they come to an end.

  “Let It Drop” for as musical and fun as it is, it really has some sort of serious subject matter. Like we all kinda deal with stresses of everyday life and sometimes you just need to put yourself first and just remind yourself that you’re entitled to have a good time. So “Let It Drop” is just that. It’s about putting all your worries aside and just having a good time, whether it’s a Friday night or out with your significant other, or out by yourself. Whatever it is, just you know let all your problems just kinda roll off your back, let it drop.

  “Learn Something New'' is what I call my sad bastard song. This album is already so fun and has a lot of really cool thematic elements that are just like party and you know good time and all this stuff, but I really wanted to, have an element that made me fall in love with country music in the first place. And that’s just thinking about a guy sitting alone at a bar stool and having too much whiskey, getting over a broken heart. There’s really a noble message behind “Learn Something New” everyday because the guy’s not placing blame on anybody else but himself, and that’s why I fell in love with this song, and I’m really glad that it made the album.

  “Big Fan” was an idea that came from a songwriting buddy of mine. And it really is a message to God. It says all these things that I have in my life, whether it’s my significant other, the roof over my head, you know, my daughter, my son, whatever it is, you’re basically just paying homage to the one above and saying, I’m a big fan of your work.

  "PARTYING WITH STRANGERS"

  “Party With Strangers” is like my life. It’s what I live every single day on tour, on the road. I get to meet different people from different walks of life, try different foods, visit with different communities, and before you know it these people that, you know, started out as complete strangers wind up as friends. And so that’s what this whole song is about. It’s my life and anybody that has become part of the Frank Ray familia knows what I’m talking about. Cause that’s what happens when you party with strangers, you leave with friends.
